FAQ:   

Am I required to maintain my fire alarm system and/or have my fire alarm system inspected?  

To help our clients have a clear understanding, we forwarded this question to a Fire Protection Engineer with Boulder Fire Rescue.  In response, we received the following:

ANSWER:
​All fire alarm systems installed per NFPA 72 shall be maintained, inspected, and tested per NFPA 72.  In the 2010 edition of NFPA 72 these requirements can be found in chapter 14.  Even though the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems is not tracked by the Boulder Fire Department the systems are required to be maintained as stated above. ​​​​
